First, I have been thinking it could have been simple i just create a skill for this, but its more likely that a user a normal human being not agents only should have the basic knowledge of it,

But later in case if you want however you can create your own skill. So, Lets talk about the first way of how I think about it.

Standards & Layout

I'm pretty sure if you are reading this you must have created few skills or you are using one for your frontend, But I would suggest something different. Few things that you have to be in your mind.

Which Type of project you are building (even with agent) you must know the domain and type (ERP, Consumer Site, Ecommerce) etc.

Why this is important because you will get to know that which standard you need to follow, you know that ERP's follow different UI/UX principals although in ERP's UI doesn't matter a lot, but in a consumer site it could be very useful if it will have better UI, it could also attract people.

Now you know which type of design you need to follow that means what you are building you are pretty aware about it. You can write about the standards.

You can create a skill which will now have the standards you would follow

  • Table structure
  • Sidebar
  • Nav
  • Everything else, which will be the full layout. It will be part of UX

UI could be more simple if you use Shadcn/ReactJs because you can go to shadcn projects to create a custom preset and build your whole layout/standards on top of it. But. you will have the UI ready,

There's no way your agent will ignore it or go in another direction, because it knows the preset and the components and styling it needs.

Or I want custom UI

In this case, probability that you don't want repeated slop UI, which means you want something unique. I totally agree, something you need to stand out.

In this scenario, I have few ideas, You need to have good taste in UI if you don't have that's also fine because now you can go and see dribble/mobbin type of websites including pinterest which will give you inspiration,

Take the design paste into one folder, whatever you like, ask your agent to buid what you liked the most, also i have few other websites

https://www.beautifului.dev/

https://bencho.dev/

Above two are resources for components, but here I'm also giving a blog ref. https://emilkowal.ski/ui/developing-taste why taste matters.

By gathering all of this, you gonna have a unique skills, which you may end up publishing on github and I'll get to know about that :)

Creating custom UI's require one thing a good taste and some extra work and digging, hopefully you will achieve that.

In design I have a theory.....

The more you have the better you can produce
If you consume more design content, there are high chances you'll end up getting more better in it, so do your agent you'll be able to direct it in the right direction.

Thanks for reading, that's all I had. I'll share more about skills i built and how I use them.

Regards, Kait
